As a Life Engagement Assistant, you’ll work alongside our Life Engagement leadership to create meaningful, purposeful, and engaging experiences for residents.
You’ll help plan and facilitate activities, outings, special events, and programs based on residents’ interests, abilities, histories, and preferences.
Most importantly, you’ll help residents continue doing the things they enjoy while discovering new ways to connect with others.
What You’ll Do
Create Meaningful Experiences
- Assist with implementing scheduled resident activities and programs.
- Help plan, coordinate, and participate in social events, outings, celebrations, and on-site activities.
- Encourage resident participation in activities that support social, emotional, cognitive, physical, and spiritual well-being.
- Help tailor activities to residents’ interests, abilities, life experiences, and preferences.
- Encourage meaningful social interaction and help residents build connections with one another.
- Serve as a positive role model for communication, engagement, and behavior-support strategies.
- Help ensure activities and events remain welcoming, inclusive, and accessible to residents.
- Assist with activities and programs when the Life Engagement Director is unavailable.
- Help maintain resident social histories and profiles.
- Assist with recruiting, training, and coordinating volunteers.
- Help maintain an organized inventory of activity supplies and equipment.
- Assist with event setup, implementation, and cleanup.
- Keep activity spaces and supplies clean, organized, and ready for use.
- Promote resident dignity, choice, independence, and respect in every interaction.
- Observe and communicate resident concerns or changes in behavior to the appropriate leadership team member.
- Follow applicable company policies, safety procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain awareness of applicable OSHA and state requirements related to resident activities and engagement.
- Attend required team meetings, training, and continuing education.

If driving is part of your role, you will:
- Safely transport residents to appointments, scheduled outings, activities, and special events.
- Assist residents entering and exiting community vehicles.
- Assist with loading and unloading wheelchairs, walkers, and other mobility devices.
- Complete required vehicle inspections before operating community vehicles.
- Keep vehicles clean, organized, and properly maintained.
- Report mechanical concerns or needed repairs promptly.
- Document transportation activities accurately and timely.
- Report resident incidents or significant physical or behavioral concerns that occur during transportation.
- Assist with vehicle safety inspections and other required transportation procedures.
We’re looking for someone who brings energy, creativity, compassion, and genuine enthusiasm for working with seniors.
The ideal candidate will have:
- At least one year of experience working with seniors, in senior living, activities programming, hospitality, or a related environment preferred.
- Experience planning or leading social, recreational, or community activities preferred.
- CNA certification or previous experience working with older adults in a residential or long-term care setting is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to build meaningful relationships with residents, families, volunteers, and team members.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Basic computer skills, including Word and Excel, preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, guests, and team members.
- A positive and professional attitude.
- Ability to work independently while also being an effective member of a team.
- A genuine passion for creating meaningful experiences for seniors.
- Valid driver's license and safe driving record.
- Previous professional experience operating a bus, van, or other passenger vehicle preferred.
- Ability to meet applicable vehicle and transportation requirements.
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL) may be required depending on the vehicle, passenger capacity, and applicable regulations.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain as required.
- Current Food Handler certification or ability to obtain as required.
- Ability to complete required continuing education and training.
- Ability to meet applicable state health and employment requirements.
- Successful completion of required pre-employment screening, including background check and TB testing.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Full-time and part-time opportunities may be available based on community needs.
- Must be available for assigned shifts, including occasional weekends and holiday rotations.
- Local travel is required for community outings and transportation responsibilities when applicable.
- Occasional longer-distance travel may be required for special events or outings.
